Options for Online and Mobile Giving

By Uncategorized

In addition to giving by check or personal bank bill pay, for your convenience online giving is now available by clicking on the Donate button below, (also located in the footer section of the website). Although King of Kings is using PayPal for managing online giving, it is not required to have a PayPal account to donate.

Clicking on the “Donate” button will bring you to a PayPal donation page (see image) where you input an amount and then choose to login to your PayPal account or pay by credit card. You also have the option to setup a recurring monthly payment. After logging in you’ll have the option to provide special instructions for your donation. The donation will be assumed to be used for general giving unless otherwise specified (ex. women’s conference, building fund, etc).

Additionally, you can transfer money from your PayPal account at www.paypal.com by logging in and choosing “Send and Request” followed by “Pay for Goods and Services” at which point you’ll be prompted for the email/mobile number to transfer the money to and an amount. Input “giving@kkchurch.org” for the email, and input the desired amount. Once submitted you’ll be offered the option to choose from accounts you have setup and you may designate any special instructions at that time. You can also use the PayPal app on your phone or tablet to transfer money to “giving@kkchurch.org”.

The P.C.A. Confronts Child Sexual Abuse

By Uncategorized

The P.C.A.’s annual nationwide gathering took place last week in Houston.  During that meeting the assembly adopted a resolution dealing with child sexual abuse.  To learn more you can read Boz Tchividjian, of G.R.A.C.E. (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment), explain the significance of this action in the Religion News Service.

Many of you will remember that our church has recently consulted with Boz and G.R.A.C.E.  We are thankful for their expertise in developing policies that safeguard our little ones.

Presbyterians in the news…

By Uncategorized

Presbyterians have been in the news this week.  For the sake of clarity, the denomination that King of Kings Church is a part of is the P.C.A. (Presbyterian Church in America) not the U.S.A. which has recently voted to allow its clergy to perform gay marriages.  You can read more about our denomination in this informational section on our website.  If you want to know more about our views on homosexuality you can listen to a sermon I preached on this topic on 3-16-2014 by following this link.

Goodyear is Growing!

By Uncategorized

The following are a few points from a recent article about Goodyear in AZ Central.  You can read the entire article here.

  • Two Phoenix-area communities were among America’s fastest-growing last year as the Valley continues to see significant population growth, according to new estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau.
  • Goodyear and Gilbert both ranked in the top 15 for growth rate between July 2012 and July 2013, a list dominated by Texas, Arizona and Utah cities.
  • Phoenix added nearly 25,000 residents last year — fifth most in the country — bringing the city’s population to an estimated 1,513,367. Phoenix remains the nation’s sixth most populous city while gaining ground on No. 5 Philadelphia.
  • Population growth was slower in other major Arizona cities, with Tucson (526,116) adding 1,300 residents and Mesa (457,857) growing by about 6,000 people.  Goodyear saw the nation’s sixth-fastest growth rate as its population jumped 4.8 percent to 72,864.

Well I just finished reading an advanced copy of Pastor Kevin DeYoung’s latest book, Taking God at His Word: Why the Bible is Knowable, Necessary, and Enough, and What That Means for You and Me. In light of full disclosure, I’m a huge fan of Pastor DeYoung’s daily blog posts over at DeYoung, Restless, and Reformed on The Gospel Coalition website (http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/kevindeyoung). Given that fact, I was very excited when Pastor Josh asked me to read his new book and provide a short review.

The title may make you visualize a very large and thick book, but it is actually fairly short in length at just 122 pages. But the book is definitely worth more than the short amount of time you will spend to read it. As Christians we hear and are often taught about the importance of God’s Word and its rightful place in our homes and hearts as a precious possession of God’s people. But we also live in an age where we constantly hear that we always need just a little bit more of ‘whatever it is’ to make us happy, healthy and wealthy. In his book, Pastor DeYoung reminds us that this is stinkin’ thinkin’ (my vernacular) when applied to the Holy Scriptures. This book is a timely reminder that the Word of God is powerful and sufficient for us now and into the future. It directly defies the voices of this modern era who espouse a very low view of the Holy Scriptures and its ultimate inerrant authority as the very Word of God and the guide for our lives.

This book encouraged me to treasure God’s Word more deeply, it rekindled my zeal for studying it, and reestablished my confidence in the fact that it is the absolute truth; which is exactly what the Lord Jesus taught his disciples concerning these scriptures (Jn 17:17-21). I do recommend this book to you. You may also want to keep an extra copy readily accessible so that you can share it with a new believer or perhaps someone you meet that may be inquiring about the things of God.
