The P.C.A. Confronts Child Sexual Abuse

By Uncategorized

The P.C.A.’s annual nationwide gathering took place last week in Houston.  During that meeting the assembly adopted a resolution dealing with child sexual abuse.  To learn more you can read Boz Tchividjian, of G.R.A.C.E. (Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment), explain the significance of this action in the Religion News Service.

Many of you will remember that our church has recently consulted with Boz and G.R.A.C.E.  We are thankful for their expertise in developing policies that safeguard our little ones.

Presbyterians in the news…

By Uncategorized

Presbyterians have been in the news this week.  For the sake of clarity, the denomination that King of Kings Church is a part of is the P.C.A. (Presbyterian Church in America) not the U.S.A. which has recently voted to allow its clergy to perform gay marriages.  You can read more about our denomination in this informational section on our website.  If you want to know more about our views on homosexuality you can listen to a sermon I preached on this topic on 3-16-2014 by following this link.

  • Two Phoenix-area communities were among America’s fastest-growing last year as the Valley continues to see significant population growth, according to new estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau.
  • Goodyear and Gilbert both ranked in the top 15 for growth rate between July 2012 and July 2013, a list dominated by Texas, Arizona and Utah cities.
  • Phoenix added nearly 25,000 residents last year — fifth most in the country — bringing the city’s population to an estimated 1,513,367. Phoenix remains the nation’s sixth most populous city while gaining ground on No. 5 Philadelphia.
  • Population growth was slower in other major Arizona cities, with Tucson (526,116) adding 1,300 residents and Mesa (457,857) growing by about 6,000 people.  Goodyear saw the nation’s sixth-fastest growth rate as its population jumped 4.8 percent to 72,864.
